• When: The SHSAT is scheduled for 8th graders during the last weekend of October and for 9th graders the first weekend of November. If you have a documented reason (either illness or you moved to New York City after the deadline for registration) you may take the SHSAT on a make-up test day in January.

  • How often: You may only take the exam once a year during your 8th or 9th grade.

  • How much: There is no cost for this test.

  • Score reporting: Prior to sitting for the test, you create your own list, prioritizing the specialized high schools. On test day, you will submit this list, which is located on your admissions ticket. Following the exam, you will receive your scaled score along with an admission offer from the school for which you qualified and were accepted into.
